Brookstreet

Catering to the Five Senses
The Brookstreet Au Naturel Spa

By Leanne Piper

It’s not easy being a new kid on the block.  But the Brookstreet Hotel and Spa have stood out from the crowd since opening in 2003.  Unconventionally located smack in the middle of a high-tech corporate park in north Ottawa, the Brookstreet was conceived by innovative Welsh entrepreneur Sir Terence (Terry) Matthews as a luxury haven for the weary business executive.

In three short years, the architecturally stunning facility has surpassed all expectations to become one of the country’s finest escapes – a 276 room luxury hotel, a breathtaking golf course, a four- diamond restaurant and to top it all off – the full-service premier Au Naturel spa.

Spa manager Suzanne Lee is finding that the new generation of corporate executives “have come to realize that after a long flight or a full day in the boardroom, they must make time to care for their body and mind.”

Lee has just the ticket for the jet-lagged client, offering “a body treatment with green tea extracts and a facial to hydrate the skin, the perfect remedy for those who have been on a plane all day.”

Lee’s signature treatment is the Au Naturel Action Sublime Facial, “an extraordinary anti-aging treatment with retinol, hyaluronic acid and lacto-proteins”.   The treatment includes a full upper body integration massage for relaxation that goes hand in hand with the 85-minute facial.  She concludes that the treatment is extremely popular because “our customers want to experience more than one sense at a time – an upper body massage while receiving a facial offers a unique type of relaxation.”

And, if touch, sight and sound were not enough, the Au Naturel line of chocolate spa treatments is enough to overload the senses!  The silky smooth detoxifying chocolate body wrap includes a mini-facial.  The chocolate blizzard scrub with sea salts and cocoa is ideal for dry flaky skin, as well as being a sensory treat.  All chocolate spa treatments tickle the tastebuds too - with a trio of handmade chocolate truffles from the award winning four-diamond Brookstreet Perspectives restaurant. Senses beware.
The challenge is leaving, dare say I am in no hurry!
